Client Story: Global Marketplace Strategy

A highly strategic project, working with Grant Arnott & the GMP team, to develop a growth plan toward accelerated and sustainable revenue growth.

Developing a growth strategy through a reimagination of a connected set of retail and consumer propositions.

Global Marketplace is the parent company of three market leading brands, Click Frenzy, Power Retail and GrabOne (NZ), and exists to help supercharge e-commerce in Australia. They bring together retailers and consumers around unique retail and discount experiences.

With a strong history of bringing e-comm innovations to Australia, GMP is under increasing competitive pressures and needs to reimagine, once again, how to create a “frenzy” that excites consumers and retailers.

The Ask: Developing a growth strategy through a reimagination of a connected set of retail and consumer propositions.

Over 9 months, across two phases of work, we completed a strategic review of the current GMP propositions, the competitive landscape and industry trends to identify future growth opportunities that leveraged the strengths of the organisation.  In the subsequent phase we laid out a detailed strategic plan to implement and, working with several partner agencies, deliver a number of quick win opportunities across the platform, the data product and the future proposition design.

The new vision highlights GMP’s ambition ‘to stimulate e-commerce growth via exceptional online shopping experiences and actionable insights’ through its mission to be Australia & New Zealand’s most trusted e-commerce partner. GMP helps retailers & merchants maximise their sales potential by providing actionable insights and exceptional digital retail experiences.

The strategy centres around delivering more value for customers enabling more access to consumer audiences, increasing the relevance to consumers with more compelling propositions and building out a strong retailer data and insights product. Truly partnering with retailers to drive e-commerce growth, with a clear focus on a few strategic initiatives that will drive the business forward.
